November 2nd – Evolving Enterprise Architecture with an Integrated SAP Toolchain: NiSource’s LeanIX Journey

Title: Evolving Enterprise Architecture with an Integrated SAP Toolchain: NiSource’s LeanIX Journey
When: Monday, November 2, 2026, 1:00 pm ET (12:00 pm CT / 10:00 am PT)
Description:
SAP for Utilities 2026 had more than 80 sessions, over half of them utility-to-utility presentations where you hear from peers about the challenges and successes of their SAP journeys. This webinar kicks off our year-round series to keep that sharing going between conferences.
Evan Prince and Jeff Carbol both Senior Enterprise Architects at NiSource, reprise their conference session on how NiSource, a long-time SAP LeanIX customer since 2020, built an integrated SAP toolchain to run enterprise architecture at scale across six states. They will share:
  • How LeanIX helps the business understand technology roadmaps across nearly 390 applications
  • How business processes from SAP Signavio connect with NiSource’s CMDB and project management solutions to keep the roadmap current
  • Utility-specific architecture governance, and the tangible outcomes and dashboards that came out of it
  • Making the most of out-of-the-box functionality before customizing
Bring your questions. Like the conference session, this will be an interactive Q&A with candid lessons on what worked and what didn’t.

November 10th – 11:00 am EST  8:00 am PST – Moving to SAP S/4 – data AI-readiness included

Register Here.

What leaders need to know about enterprise data, legacy systems and business context before—and after—the move to S/4HANA.

Moving to SAP S/4HANA is a major transformation. But the move itself is only part of the story.

What happens to years — or even decades — of historical enterprise data?
How much of it really needs to move into S/4HANA? How can legacy systems be retired without losing access to valuable information? And as AI becomes part of everyday business processes, will your data have the context needed to make AI useful?

Join Paul Kurchina, Jean-Marc Pestoni, Sebastian Wernicke and Marc Rosson for a live Expert Talk examining the bigger data picture behind the move to S/4HANA.

Rather than another technical migration presentation, the discussion will look at the questions organizations should be asking before, during and after their S/4 transformation — including how to:

  • approach historical and legacy data without unnecessarily moving everything into S/4HANA;
  • preserve access to business-critical information while simplifying the application landscape;
  • maintain the business context that gives enterprise data its meaning;
  • prepare enterprise data for an increasingly AI-driven environment; and
  • think beyond go-live to ensure information remains accessible and valuable long after the migration.

November 18 – 10:00 am EST,  7:00 am PST

SAP for Asset and Service Management Americas | Home

SAP EAM TAC-Insight meeting 3/24 – 3/26 – Houston, Texas Wrap-up from EAM Conference in Houston by Jeff Smith who attended:

The 2026 SAP Asset & Service Management Conference brought together professionals from across asset-intensive industries, including utilities, oil & gas, manufacturing, chemicals, mining, and the public sector. As the first dedicated SAP EAM-focused conference held in the United States since prior to COVID, the event provided a valuable opportunity to network, collaborate, and reconnect with peers across the Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) community.

A highlight of the conference was the NASA keynote delivered by Jordan Evans, which provided powerful insights into reliability, risk management, and mission assurance. The keynote emphasized disciplined processes, failure prevention, and the importance of learning from past events—principles that directly align with reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) and modern asset management practices.

A consistent theme throughout the conference was the evolution of Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) within SAP, particularly the integration of predictive analytics, mobility, and cloud-based solutions. Organizations are continuing to move beyond traditional preventive maintenance programs toward more risk-based and reliability-centered approaches.

Utilities are accelerating efforts to modernize asset management programs, with a strong focus on aligning EAM with business objectives, improving data quality, and implementing standardized asset hierarchies. Frameworks such as ISO 55000 and ISO 14224 were frequently highlighted as key enablers for consistent and reliable data to support maintenance and reliability strategies.

Another major takeaway was the growing role of condition-based maintenance (CBM) and predictive maintenance (PdM). Many organizations are leveraging sensors, IoT, and advanced analytics to detect early signs of failure and reduce unplanned downtime. However, it was emphasized that technology alone is not enough—success depends on strong data governance, well-defined processes, and organizational alignment.

There was also significant discussion around SAP S/4HANA and its impact on asset management. Organizations shared lessons learned around data migration, standardization, and the critical importance of cleansing legacy data. Master data quality continues to be one of the most important factors for long-term success.

In closing, the conference reinforced that effective asset management is not just about systems and tools, but about people, processes, and data working together. Organizations that prioritize data quality, adopt standardized frameworks, and align maintenance strategies with business risk are best positioned to achieve sustainable improvements in reliability and cost efficiency.
