November webinars — the year-round series starts
SAP for Utilities 2026 had more than 80 sessions, over half of them utility-to-utility. Not everyone can be there, and nobody can be in every room, so this month we start a year-round series that keeps that sharing going between conferences. Full details for each session are on our Utility Events page.
Monday, November 2 — Evolving Enterprise Architecture with an Integrated SAP Toolchain: NiSource’s LeanIX Journey. 1:00 pm ET / 12:00 pm CT / 10:00 am PT. Evan Prince and Jeff Carbol, Senior Enterprise Architects at NiSource, reprise their conference session on how NiSource built an integrated SAP toolchain to run enterprise architecture at scale across six states: LeanIX across nearly 390 applications, Signavio processes connected to the CMDB and project management, utility-specific architecture governance, and getting the most out of standard functionality before customizing. Interactive Q&A, candid lessons. Register here.
Tuesday, November 10 — Moving to SAP S/4: data AI-readiness included. 11:00 am ET / 8:00 am PT. A live Expert Talk with Paul Kurchina, Jean-Marc Pestoni, Sebastian Wernicke and me on the bigger data picture behind the move to S/4HANA: what to do with decades of historical data without moving all of it, retiring legacy systems without losing access, keeping the business context that gives data its meaning, and getting that data ready for AI. Register here.
Wednesday, November 18 — SAP Espresso: Industry AI for Utilities, Engagement Model and Utilities Ontology Preview. 4:00 pm CET / 10:00 am ET / 7:00 am PT. Frederik Meyer and Paul Roth of SAP introduce SAP’s Industry AI engagement model and its Forward Deployed Engineering co-innovation approach, then give a live preview of the Utilities Ontology, a domain-specific knowledge layer meant to give AI on the SAP platform real utility business context. They cover the design principles, scope and structure of the first release, how the ontology supports agentic AI deployments, and a step-by-step view of instantiating and operationalizing it in a customer’s own architecture. Aimed at anyone leading AI strategy, digital transformation, enterprise architecture or SAP platform work. Register here.
Still being scheduled: Sara Burke of PG&E on organizational change management across a workforce of nearly 60,000 employees and contractors. Watch for the invitation.
Early December, so you can plan ahead: SAP Espresso, Update and Outlook for SAP S/4HANA Utilities Innovations (December 2); ASUG, You Can’t Transform What You Can’t See, Avista’s journey from complexity to clarity with SAP’s integrated toolchain (December 8, 9:00 am PT); and the Mirata customer group meeting (December 9, Mirata customers only).

Utility Voice — Agents on the Slides, Migrations in the Room
San Antonio packed 79 sessions into three days, and the decks tell a clearer story than the agenda: SAP brought agents that now have dates, and utilities brought migrations, clean-core discipline and AI they built themselves. Article 12 works through six layers, from the 2027 maintenance calendar to the people-and-process work that still decides every program, adds what SAP told investors in its Q3 results two weeks later, and covers the SAP DER demo on the vendor floor. Read Article 12: Agents on the Slides, Migrations in the Room.
Utility Voice — The Answers That Came Back
Article 10 asked roughly fifty questions and promised a report on what came back from San Antonio. Article 11 scores sixty-six of them room by room: eleven answered, twenty-eight partly answered, twenty-seven not answered at all. The surprise is where the answers came from: utilities that have already shipped AI answered the governance questions on their own slides, while on agents acting on operations SAP has since offered a principle and nobody, utility or SAP, has offered a control. It also covers FERC’s new staff guidance on AI tools under CIP and the New York AI inventories due November 16. Read Article 11: The Answers That Came Back.
